Mengyue Xu is currently a research investigator in Large-scale Integrated Photonics (LSIP) Group at University of Michigan since August 2024, working with Prof. Di Liang. Before that, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the OxideMEMS Lab at Purdue University since Feb 2023, advised by Prof. Sunil Bhave. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2022 from the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies at Sun Yat-sen University, where she worked under the supervision of Prof. Xinlun Cai. Her doctoral research was focused on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonics and heterogeneous Si/TFLN photonics, particularly their applications in optical communication systems. After that, she expanded her research interests into quantum sensing, especially in the diamond spin inertial sensors.
Mengyue is the recipient of the 2022 Tingye Li Memorial Scholarship for her exceptional contributions to thin-film lithium niobate electro-optic devices for coherent optical communication. She received the awards for 2019 China's Top 10 Optical Breakthroughs [Nat. Photonics 13(359)], 2020 China's Top 10 Optical Breakthroughs [Nat. Commun. 11(3911)], and 2022 China's Top 10 Optical Breakthroughs [Optica 9(1)].
